Sinking Fund Planner

List each irregular expense you're planning for, its estimated cost, and the month you'll need the money. We'll calculate how much to set aside each month for every fund, and the total across all of them.

How this is calculated

Monthly set-aside = target amount ÷ number of months between today and the "needed by" month. If a date is this month or in the past, it's treated as due now (1 month), so the full amount shows as needed. This doesn't account for interest earned while saving, which is usually small over these timeframes.

Why separate buckets work better than one general savings pot

Mixing all your future irregular expenses into one savings account makes it easy to lose track of how much is actually earmarked for what — and tempting to spend "extra" balance that's really already spoken for. Naming and tracking each sinking fund separately, even within one account using sub-accounts, keeps the picture clear and reduces the chance you reach for a credit card when a planned expense arrives.
